About me

I am a Texas girl, born and raised in Amarillo.  I graduated from Caprock High School in 1999 and completed my AS in General Studies at Amarillo College in 2001, while I battled thyroid cancer.  I earned my BAAS  from the University of North Texas in 2003 with a teaching certification in Office Education. At Dunbar Middle School I taught Computer Applications and Keyboarding for two years before resigning to complete my M.Ed in Instructional Technology.  I graduated in 2006 and became an Instructional Systems Specialist for the Department of Defense at Ft. Sill.  I hated leaving Texas, but soon developed a routine in Oklahoma.  Soon after starting my job I found out that my cousin had died while serving in Iraq when his Apache helicopter went down.  That was a very difficult time, but soon after that I met my husband, who was at Fort Sill. After getting married in 2008, we decided to move back to Texas.  He started the police academy and I was hired on at Eastfield, where I was the Instructional Technology Facilitator and worked with faculty to incorporate technology and assist in the development of their courses.

In 2009 we found out I was pregnant and bought a house.  Parker was born in April 2010 a little earlier than expected. In 2012 the opportunity for advancement presented itself and I was hired as the Instructional Designer at Texas A&M University-Commerce. I worked with the Dean and faculty of the Sociology and Criminal Justice department to redesign the online M.S. in Applied Criminology, following Quality Matters Standards.

In January 2014 I followed my heart and decided to stay home with our son, Parker.  I started subbing and volunteering at the Ark Preschool, where he attended.  After a couple of months they asked me to be a full time teacher. Once my son graduated preschool and started Kindergarten, I was hired as the Technology aide at Herndon Intermediate. I currently teach Keyboarding and Computer Applications, while I love teaching computers I need a change of pace. I decided to take the Physical Education certification test. I want to be an advocate for exercising and healthy living.  I know I will make a difference through individualized praise and positive encouragement.

I am truly blessed.
